- 11:30 PM southeastern sky – Mars and Saturn low in the sky in the late evening
- 10 PM, southern sky – Virgo constellation with the bright star Spica, the famous Sombrero Galaxy (Messier 104) and the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, which contains the elliptical galaxies Messier 49, Messier 59, Messier 60, and Messier 89, the supergiant elliptical galaxy Messier 87 (Virgo A), the spirals Messier 58, Messier 61, and Messier 90, and the lenticular galaxies Messier 84 and Messier 86
- 10 PM, southern sky – Coma Berenices with the famous Black Eye Galaxy (Messier 64), the globular cluster Messier 53, the grand design spiral galaxy Messier 100, the lenticular galaxy Messier 85, and spiral galaxies Messier 88, Messier 91, Messier 98 and Messier 99 (the Coma Pinwheel)
- 10 PM southeastern sky – Canes Venatici with the bright star Cor Caroli and the face-on spiral galaxy Messier 51, also known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, the Sunflower Galaxy (Messier 63), spiral galaxies Messier 94 (the Cat’s Eye Galaxy) and Messier 106, and the globular cluster Messier 3
- 3 AM, eastern sky – Eta Aquariid meteor shower peaking on the night of May 4 to 5, with up 10 meteors per hour visible from the east after midnight
