Here are some of the things to see in October:
- 8:30 pm, southeast sky – Pegasus constellation with the Great Square asterism, formed by three Pegasus stars – Algenib, Markab and Scheat – with Alpheratz in Andromeda; 51 Pegasi, the first Sun-like star with a confirmed exoplanet; the dense globular cluster Messier 15 (the Great Pegasus Cluster) near the bright Enif (Epsilon Pegasi); the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 7331 and the nearby Stephan’s Quintet of galaxies
- 10 pm, eastern sky – Andromeda constellation with the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), one of the most distant objects visible to the unaided eye and the nearest large galaxy to the Milky Way, and its smaller companions, Messier 32 and Messier 110
