- 7:30 pm, southwestern sky – Saturn appearing above the southern horizon early in the evening
- 6:30 am, eastern sky – Venus and Mars rising together just before dawn early in the month
- 10 pm, southern sky – Pegasus constellation with the Great Square of Pegasus, formed by Markab, Scheat, Algenib and Alpheratz, and 51 Pegasi, the first sun-like star known to have a planet in its orbit
- 10 pm, eastern sky – Andromeda constellation, with the bright star Alpheratz marking the brightest corner of the Great Square, the Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31) and its companions Messier 110 and Messier 32
- 1 am, eastern sky – Orionid meteor shower, peaking on the night of October 21 to 22
