Here are some of the things to see in April:
- 10:30 pm, northeast sky – Ursa Major, dominated by the Big Dipper pattern, with the double star Mizar and Alcor in the Dipper’s handle (or the Great Bear‘s tail), the Pinwheel Galaxy (Messier 101) forming a triangle with Mizar and Alkaid, and the pair of galaxies catalogued as Messier 81 and Messier 82 (Bode’s Galaxy and the Cigar Galaxy) located about 10 degrees northwest of Dubhe, the upper star of the outer side of the Big Dipper‘s bowl
- 10:30 pm, southern sky – Leo constellation with the bright Regulus marking the lion’s heart and Denebola its tail, and several bright galaxies in the area between the two stars, including the spiral galaxies Messier 95 and Messier 96, and the Leo Triplet (Messier 65, Messier 66 and NGC 3628)
