- 8 pm, southwestern sky – Venus and Jupiter visible above the horizon
- 9 pm, southern sky – Mars and Saturn visible in the direction of Sagittarius
- 11 pm, southern sky – Aquarius constellation, with the Water Jar asterism and the dense globular star cluster Messier 2
- 11 pm, southern sky – Capricornus constellation, with the bright star Algedi and the globular cluster Messier 30
- The comet Giacobini Zinner will be at its brightest and easy to see in binoculars in the east as it passes through Auriga, between the constellations Gemini and Orion
